Scottish Water has gone out to tender with a major construction work and maintenance services contract to support the delivery of its refurbishment, responsive and operational repair programme worth up to £528,320,000 million in total.
The contract, which is being tendered in three Lots, includes reactive, low value, non-complex operational and capital investment projects, on a geographical basis for 2021-2027, with extension options up to 2 years.
Lot 1 Water Infrastructure
Scope of work covers design, planning, management and delivery for the provision of repair and maintenance for water infrastructure in refurbishment, responsive operational repair services and non-complex capital maintenance investment portfolio on a geographical basis.
Activities under the contract will include:
- installation and repairs to water network activities;
- excavating and repairing burst water mains and reinstatement
- minor mains laying, installation of overhead emergency pipework, flood damage and property clean-ups including ironworks and reinstatement repair/replacements in geographically challenging areas where required
- access path, stairs and roadway repairs
- valve and PRV installations
- meter (revenue and network) installation and replacement,
- provision of new connections and replacement of lead supply pipes. The services vary in nature from reactive work based on customer or operational needs through to planned programmes of works for capital works.
- Estimated total value for Lot 1 for 2021-2027 plus 2 years extension is up to £152.4 million
Lot 2 Waste Water Infrastructure
Scope of work covers design, planning, management and delivery for the provision of repair and maintenance for waste water infrastructure in refurbishment, responsive and operational repair and non-complex capital maintenance investment portfolio services on a geographical basis.
Activities will include:
- waste water network activities
- excavating and repairing collapsed sewers and reinstatement
- minor sewer replacements (up to 100 mtrs)
- installation of overland sewer pumping emergency pipework, external sewer flooding clean-ups and property clean-ups
- access paths, stairs and roadways
- upgrades, installation and maintenance of sewer pipelines, manholes, CSO chambers, outfalls and pumping stations and related sewer infrastructure and sewer clean-up services
Again, estimated total value for Lot 2 for 2021-2027 plus 2 years extension is up to £152.4 million
Lot 3 Mechanical, Electrical and Non Infrastructure Services
Contract covers design, planning, management and delivery for the provision of repair and maintenance for mechanical, electrical and non-infrastructure (above ground) capital maintenance services on a geographical basis.
Scope of work will include:
- reactive repairs to water and wastewater mechanical and electrical assets (e.g. motors and gearboxes, drives, blowers and compressors, water and waste water sludge presses, actuators, valves, electrical distribution equipment, archimedes screw pumps and screens)
- non-infrastructure activities - new assets
- renewals, modification, maintenance and refurbishment of extensions to water networks, sewerage networks including UIDs and sewer rehabilitation works and pumping stations (infrastructure).
The estimated total value for lot 3 for 2021-2029 is up to £223.52 million
